Study Visa In Australia

For students opting to study in Australia, it is necessary to obtain the Australian student visa or the subclass 500. This visa lets students stay in the country for the period of their study which may extend to a duration of five years. The visa lets students finish their studies in Australia and has a provision that lets family members of applicants accompany students to the country. Students can apply using an online application process.

Applicants must ensure that they are above six years of age and must have been accepted to the programme in Australia that they have enrolled for. It is necessary that they obtain an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before they obtain a student visa in the country. Students also require various documents like a valid passport, visa application fee, a health insurance policy, TOEFL or IELTS scores, Statement of Purpose, Academic Purpose and other relevant documents. As for English Language Proficiency, it is necessary that students obtain at least a score of 5.5 on the four modules in the IELTS to obtain a study Visa in Australia. For students below 18 years of age, parental consent and other such documents become necessary.

The application process has been made relatively easy by allowing students to apply online. Students have to create an account on the website to be able to apply for the Visa. The Australian Home Affairs website handles Visa traffic and can be visited here. It is advisable that students submit their applications between 6 to 12 weeks before the beginning of their course. This is the optimal time frame and applications submitted at other times may not be considered. Typically, students pay about 620 AUD per visa application with additional fees charged for accompanying members. Once a student has obtained the visa, it is necessary that they follow university rules and progress in the course and keep the university informed about any changes in their residential address. Further, the visa comes with working conditions depending on your age, course etc. In addition to this, for every new level of education or work obtained in Australia, students will have to apply for a new Visa. Students must adhere to this during their stay. Do note that career counselling services can assist students in the complex process of applying and obtaining a student Visa to Australia.
